i found out last month that i have herpes. i'm still beating myself up about it, mostly because the person who gave it to me was a jerk and i shouldn't have messed with him in the first place. after that relationship ended i was pissed enough over having wasted the time. i've always been careful, i've never had an STD in my life until now, and of course i end up with the incurable one. i know it could be a lot worse but it just seems unfair.

hiya... i know exctly how you feel. i got diagnosed 4 months ago, and i still find it difficult. i get days were i feel so depressed! then theirs other days were i think i wont let this get me down, theirs so much emocional trauma!

its the same for me...i met someone he swept me off my feet, then dropped me leaving me with this! it makes me feel angry when i think of him!

i caught it off a cold sore he had, i didnt notice cause he had picked it off (eww) he said he didnt know u could catch it from that! id never had a cold sore i had no protection!

supose its just one of them things we will grow to except!

To all of you who are despairing...I was diagnosed about a month ago and, if I count the days, that means I could have been infected three months ago. I know things seem bad, but I deal with it by looking at this from the following perspective:

I have something that about one in four have, so there are millions like me just in the U.S. alone.

It doesn't have any serious negative health effects. There's an inconvenient rash that isn't much worse than a UTI or cold sore (which about 80% of people have experienced).

For most people with this condition, like myself, there are no symptoms. I've never had an outbreak.

This doesn't define who I am. I've never been promiscuous, I have a number of great qualities and I really genuinely like the person that I am.

If someone else doesn't want to be with me because of this condition, then I completely understand because it's their prerogative. However, I'm sure that there are plenty of others that would gladly have me. I know this because I chose to be with someone who had herpes when I did not.

I hope that those of you feeling depressed will realize (1) your value as a person is not compromised by having herpes and (2) others will see your value and not your condition.

Thanks for your words of support! just reading that makes you realise that their are good ppl out their, ppl willing to except. that makes me happy.

already im feeling a change within my attitude towards life, since being diagnosed. Lifes too short. i have an amazing life, with all i ever need! i wont let this beat me!
