Valtrex Commercials/Boycott? -

I don't know about the rest of you ... but I guess I am a 'long termer'. I was raped in the early 90's, and now have herpes as a reminder. I was also married for 7 years, carefully monitored myself, had full contact sex, and never passed it on.
I was reading the thread on emotions. My worst emotions are from the change in the valtrex commercials. Ten years ago, they were about suppresion and not 'taking time out of your life.' The one I just saw about an hour ago just enraged the hell out of me.
WHAT STUDY ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT??!??? Who funded this study?
Their commercials just piss me off. Yeah they are the 'only' drug approved for suppresion because 'old school' acyclovair's patent has run out. Acyclovair has nothing to gain by going up in front of the FDA again. This is a common occurance with drugs. They are already approved when another use is found for them.
While a drug still has an active patent (usually 20 years) they are the only ones who can make that specific drug. This is where most of their money is made. Remember Prilosec? They pushed for an extension on their patent naming many reasons why it was important, were denied, then pushed for it to be over the counter! Now it is.
I know I am going on, so I'll stick to my point. Dating has gotten worse with the 'progression' in valtrex commercials. If the point of their drug is to make our lives better why make commercials that make the hysteria and labeling of us even worse??!!
Acyclovair is cheaper. L-Lysine works faster and doesn't make you want to barf. I know I am upset at the newest hysteria inducing commercial, but a boycott to let them know how we feel about their commercials would send a message.
