About a year ago I had sexual contact with someone who may have had genital herpes. I don't think I really had an initial outbreak. I probably should have had a blood test, but my Dr. had said that from looking, it didn't appear that I had herpes.

I recently have a small red bump on my groin that is slightly painful, it feels like a pimple, but it isn't developing a head and it is starting to die down. I'm concerned if this is actually a herpes sore. The Dr. said that if it was it would be extremely painful to the touch. It isn't too painful, I mean I can touch it and poke at it, it feels just like a painful pimple, but I'm just a bit worried.

Is there a vast difference in appearance from a herpes sore than from say a pimple or an ingrown hair? Maybe I'm just over reacting?
