If you are infected,avoid physical contact with the area from the time of the first symptoms (tingling, itching, burning) until all sores are completely healed, not just scabbed-over. Also be aware of possible shedding or "asymptomatic transmission", even after the sores have healed.

I think that there are many precautions that people are not even aware of because most people think "it would never happen to me" so they lack the proper knowledge for these sort of things. I think that anyone that is having unprotected sex should be fully aware of the symptoms of all std's.
